Pulsed Radio Frequency
Hi, i was just wondering how the process of pulsed radio frequency works on the pudendal nerve? Also how long after procedure would maximum benefit take place. Also is there any tips on making more progress with other therapies along side prf?thanks
Hi Liam,
I don’t have all the info for that immediately, but I can share with you two concerns I tell patients about: 1. Often pulsed radio frequency is used at a nerve to try to help – but the issue is that it is sometimes the wrong nerve or only a PART of the problem.
2. I’ve seen many patients who get PRFA get flared for 7-10 days before they may get back to baseline or improve (and some don’t), so it is not a quick magic bullet.
Having stated that – there’s a lot more to discover to make sure this is the right treatment for you. And yes – typically going to a pelvic pain specialist MD and/or pelvic PT is best – not just the procedure. Happy to answer more as soon as I can again if you have follow up questions.
