Ashley Picoraro , BS, PT, DPTHelix Pelvic Health LLC
Ashley first developed a passion for the human body, movement and rehabilitation at Skidmore College, where she achieved a degree in dance and psychology and taught Pilates. She has always had a personal interest in childbirth, education and medicine. When pursuing her doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of New England, she discovered that a career in women’s health physical therapy provided a common denominator for her professional and personal interests. Ashley spent the first part of her career treating patients with pelvic health conditions and learning alongside pelvic health specialists in both Maine and Vermont. She developed a program for female youth dancers and provided specialty education to prenatal yoga instructors and childbirth educators. Perhaps the best pelvic health education came from her personal experience bearing two children. Ashley combined the efforts of implementing her own skills and leaning on peer professionals to manage pregnancy, delivery and recovery. Ashley observed that her knowledge and expertise in the field of pelvic health enabled her to feel empowered on this journey, despite trauma and obstacles. Her mission in establishing Helix Pelvic Health is to expand access to this empowered feeling— providing Maine mothers with medical and wellness guidance to lean on in their own journey through motherhood and beyond.
